Visiting various WW2 sites east and west of the highway between Bologna and Florence Italy.
Visited the museum on June 4, 2024. The visit was outside normal visiting hours and they opened the museum specially for us. The person from the museum was friendly and helpful. It was worth visiting the museum. Something special.

Must See Experience Just North of Florence
This is a gem of a place and not to be missed whether you are a WWII enthusiast or not. Run by a passionate band of friendly locals who have lovingly set about unearthing the facts and artefacts of the battle for the Giogo Pass and Mount Altuzzo, the exhibits in the museum are astonishing in their number and variety and there is nothing that prepares you for their impact in bringing alive the story and the human experience of this episode in the War. We contacted the Museum before travelling to Florence and they very kindly arranged for one of their volunteers to pick us up from our hotel in central Florence. We were treated like royalty by Luca who proceeded to explain to us in impeccable English, the almost minute by minute narrative of the battle, pieced together from talking with men who had fought in the battle on both sides and re-visited to site. Many of the bunkers have been returned to their original state and the hairs on our necks rose as Luca explained how the battle unfolded over its 10 day course. It really is a very special place. We learned so much, made new friends and will always remember! Thank you :)

Giogo-Monte Altuzzo route + Museum
We chose route A with a visit to the stations and refuges on the Giogo Pass and Monte Altuzzo and then we went down to Ponzalla to visit the museum. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate guide. We will definitely return with the children again on September 1st when there will be a historical re-enactment with actors and military weapons/vehicles, so as not to forget.

Immersed in history
Visit organized with a group of 30 people. In the morning excursion to the bunkers of Passo del Giogo, in the afternoon to Mugot. Marco and Daniele accompanied us. Two exceptional people: prepared, passionate, competent and kind. I appreciated their exhibition which took into account the presence of boys and girls with an average age of around 10 years. Thanks also go to Simona who put up with us and supported us in organizing the outing. His contribution was fundamental to the success of the day. However I will be back!!!!

An unforgettable page of history
On a foggy winter morning, visiting environments that also decided Italy's fate at the end of the Second World War made the experience unique. The passionate explanations of the very kind President Luca bring to life the days of the furious battles on the "Gothic line". The commitment with which Simona organized everything with Luca down to the smallest detail gave us a day that will remain in our memory forever. The expert account of the battles that raged in these territories also makes it clear what is behind the wars of position in which even the smallest detail can change the fate of a fight. The detailed description of all the objects in the museum collection from the toothbrush to the Italian, German, English and American uniforms of the time, from the soldiers' libations to the military healthcare equipment of the time, has had a strong impact on our imagination. The visit to the infirmary bunker and the command bunker immersed us in the world of time for a few minutes. Even if the fog did not allow us to see the panorama, it gave something very suggestive to the route we took to reach the places where the Germans hid and defended the territories. Very evocative are the stories that the president of the center Luca told with skill, making us share in the passion with which he follows this project. I recommend everyone to visit this center which will remain part of our memories. I also recommend taking part in the re-enactment of the battles on the Gothic line which will take place between 31 August and 1 September as every year. I sincerely thank the president Luca and the precious Simona for organizing and giving us this unforgettable experience also crowned by the greeting to the local mayor. Thank you, see you soon! We will definitely return with our families too'

Exciting visit.
The visit to the Museum and the inspection of the Monte Altuzzo bunkers with Mr. Luca, President of the Association, were truly unique. Even though the day was foggy, the atmosphere was special and the guide's explanation was very captivating.

A dive into our history
Well… what can I say, the visit exceeded every possible expectation. The museum collection, which is constantly updated, is made up of fragments of a story that unites us all, and each fragment has its own story to tell. The curators are not "employees", but passionate researchers who continue to weave the threads of time between what they find and whoever owned it, building bridges between these places and the American continent, rather than German middle Europe. Men who were protagonists of the events narrated walked on these bridges and men walk who, curiously, reconstruct the history of their fathers, grandfathers, compatriots in arms in that terrible period of the history of humanity. All this can be summarized in one word: THANK YOU!!!
